Batman lost and found

Another free sketch. I didn't post this when I did it because honestly, what is Batman doing? I'm not really sure what his gesture is saying. I have a tendency to do that sometimes, to just start drawing without any idea of where I'm going. I should stop doing that.

Man in Suit

Nothing too special, just messing around with brushes in PS.

Dream

Another free sketch. This time Dream from the Sandman series.

Madman

I've been doing the free sketches with any purchase from my online store http://staggsart.bigcartel.com/ and this is what this piece started as, but the person who was getting it wanted to upgrade, which I was more than happy to do.

Anyone who's interested I'm taking 9x12 inked commissions, usually of one character, for 30$. If you want something like this just e-mail me.

Thanks again to anyone who purchased any pages from me or who even wanted to, but couldn't because they were strapped for cash, I totally understand.

Punisher Paintball

Another free sketch to go along with a purchase from my shop. [link]

Not exactly what the person asked for, but I hope he likes it anyway.

Ghost Rider and Firebreather

I did this as a free sketch for Phil Hester. He was a second too late trying to buy a Deadpool page with Ghost rider on it. It was my fault that he missed it but he was super cool about it and still got something from me which was super cool of him. So I thought the least I could do was a team up with Ghost rider and his awesome character Firebreather. Hopefully he likes it.

Batman Montage Inks!

Found the pencils to this piece recently and decided it might be fun to finally ink it.  Inking an older piece of your art is pretty interesting, it really helps you see how much you've changed/improved as an artist.  I recommend doing it for anyone questioning whether or not they are improving as an artist.

In the Belly Button of the Beast

Wizard with a Muffin-Top

Alright, from left to right, "Tickle, Tickle", "Doc Ock Has a Headache", "Wolverine Can't Believe What He's Seeing", "Crocodile Smile", "Just Stop" and "You're Not Funny" This is the continuation of me regularly not posting work regularly. A bunch of false starts and things that didn't even get that far.

A Fresh Start

My New Studio space! The weird stuff in the right corner are traditional art materials, crazy I know. If you're curious the art on the screen is from one of my all time favorite comic artists, Rick Leonardi. Time to make some art!
Not sure if this ever got used for anything, but it was a cover I did for a fun independent book titled "Call Me Perilous". This is one of those times where your pretty happy with parts of the image and not so much with others. Either way here it is. I figure I did it and at the time it was the best I could do so I should be at peace with what it is. Sorry, didn't mean to get philosophical about it all, but you know what, art can get pretty deep, even comic book art.

Robin's revenge Pg7

Two pages left. I'm aiming to finish the remaining pages by next week if all goes well.

Pg6

Pg6. Three to go. The pacing on some of these pages isn't really ideal but I wanted to keep the amount of pages under ten. It's also the reason that a lot of the action is implied rather than shown in more detail.

Robins revenge Pg4

I've still got a bit of work to finish pg5 so it might be a couple of days before I post that one. After pg 5 I'll have four to go.

Bubba

Hey gents and Dames I'm trying to keep this thing updated more regularly. I can't always promise gems or even semi precious posts but I'll deliver something. Today you get Bubba! Mostly just playing around with style a little bit in anticipation of a future project. (More on that later;)

Robin Pg3

#3rd page of a ten page Robin story that I wrote. I'll post the rest of the pages as I complete them.

Hulk

I tried to paint! I think this is the second thing I've tried to paint with acrylics. I have to say, things were less frustrating this time. I'd like to try more in the future. I did play around with it a bit in PS. (filters and a little bit of digital painting)

crowheadbrohead

Does anyone know why the letters in my title turn into little squares when I put a space between them?

A few new sketches, some from life, some that obviously are not but all a blast to draw.

zombie crossbones

A couple of quick sketches for a t-shirt logo. In the end they didn't get used but It's always fun drawing zombies so it wasn't a total loss.

Zombie Cage Fighter

A few pages I did a while back as part of a pitch With UFC fighter Nate "Rock" Quarry. I really liked the idea and had a lot of fun working on it, unfortunately these four pages and the cover that I did will probably be the ex stint of my involvement with the book.

Looking back at them now I think I would have handled the tones a bit differently than I did at the time, but that's how you learn, so all in all it was a good experience.

From Z to A

This was commission of two brothers that wanted to be drawn as super heroes. I'm also working on an alternate version that's a take off of the classic Leyendecker Pilgrim and football player thanksgiving Illustration.

Zombie Cage Fighter

I got the ok to show this cover so here it is. What is it you might ask..., it's a project that I've been working on with UFC fighter Nate "Rock" Quarry. This is Nate's baby so to speak, it's a really fun story with a lot of heart and a ton of cage fighting action. Hopefully I can post some of the preview pages soon. In the mean time, I hope you'll enjoy the cover. If you don't know Nate Quarry and you're a fight fan be sure to google him, he's super tough and like his story, the guy has ton's of heart.

Storm

This is a pretty old drawing that I did so the style a bit different than what I do now but it seemed like a nice simple drawing to digitally paint. I want to start doing more fully painted pieces like this just to have some different work to show and also to flex some art muscles that I don't use normally. I still have lots to learn about this approach but hopefully I'll be looking back at this in a month or so and see it as the beginning of becoming more versatile.
